The difference between foam core and solid core composite doors is all in the construction. Foam core composite doors are made from a steel-reinforced uPVC frame and are filled with foam, whereas solid composite doors have a solid core of laminated timber.
The polyurethane foam core offers excellent thermal efficiency and helps our composite doors deliver some of the best U-values of any front door currently available in the UK. While our solid core composite is incredibly strong and secure and uses ABS cylinder locks for maximum levels of security.
We also offer a hybrid composite door, with a unique core comprising both foam and reinforcing structures. This makes our hybrid doors more robust and more secure, without compromising on energy efficiency.

The decision between a composite door and a uPVC door comes down to your personal preferences, budget, and the specific requirements of your home. If you want a door that is strong, durable, and looks great, then a composite door may be the better option. However, if you are looking for a cost-effective, low-maintenance door that provides adequate insulation and security, then a uPVC door may be more suitable.
Composite doors typically cost around 60% more than uPVC doors. However, it’s worth noting that while composite doors may be more expensive upfront, they can provide better long-term value due to their durability, energy efficiency, and overall lifespan. Additionally, a higher-quality door can potentially increase the value of your home and improve its curb appeal.
